The Colorado Energy Science Center has begun
Phase 2 to revitalize solar energy education for the schools
that participated in the Solar Schools Program which was
launched in 1998-99 by the Xcel Energy Renewable Trust. CESC
will accomplish the following during the 2007-08 school year:
- Upgrade hardware
for solar systems.
- Connect the
solar systems to a network so data is accessible on the web.
- Train teachers
and staff how to access the data and teach solar lessons in the
classroom.
- Establish
ongoing communication that will keep teachers involved with the
program.
- Raise awareness
of solar energy and solar energy education with hundreds of students
and their families.
- Raise awareness
of this project with the other Solar Schools that are not currently
participating.
