Peak Electric Use in Boston Market Restaurants

Colorado School of Mines

Students Observe a Store's Energy UsageFifteen CSM students have just completed a semester learning about energy management on a large scale. Their project is to analyze peak electric energy usage in Boston Market restaurants. This analysis can help Boston Market devise strategies to reduce peak usage and energy costs.

CESC provided the students with an introduction to energy management and electric energy issues and then arranged for presentations from experts from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, URS and Energy Window.

Boston Market, the Golden, Colorado based restaurant chain, has provided the students with internet access to energy usage data and has provided tours of the test kitchen and a working restaurant.
